Job Overview
The Store Assistant supports daily warehouse and spare parts store operations by assisting with receiving, storing, issuing, and documenting automotive spare parts and heavy equipment materials. Working closely with the Storekeeper and technical teams, this role ensures accurate inventory records, proper material handling, and smooth availability of tools and parts required for operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive incoming spare parts, tools, and materials and inspect quantity and quality against delivery notes and invoices
- Store items in designated locations using correct handling methods to prevent damage
- Prepare and issue automotive spare parts and materials based on approved work orders or requisitions
- Assist with periodic stock counts and report shortages or discrepancies to the Storekeeper or Inventory Checker
- Record all inventory transactions manually or in the inventory management system to maintain accurate stock levels
- Ensure proper labeling, binning, and identification of all materials
- Maintain cleanliness, order, and safety within the warehouse and store areas
- Assist with loading and unloading moderately heavy automotive and heavy equipment parts using appropriate tools
- Follow all safety, housekeeping, and operational procedures at all times
Qualifications and Skills
- Automotive Technical or Supply Chain Certification, Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- 0–1 year of experience in warehouse or store operations, preferably in the automotive or heavy equipment sector
- Basic knowledge of inventory control procedures and warehouse safety practices
- Understanding of automotive spare parts and heavy equipment parts identification
- Ability to lift and handle moderately heavy items safely
- Familiarity with warehouse tools, barcode scanners, or basic computer systems (an advantage)
- Experience with inventory handling, stock binning, documentation, and labeling
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping
