Role Summary
The Load Master position is a core operational role responsible for managing aircraft loading activities, ensuring accurate weight and balance, and maintaining compliance with international aviation safety standards. Key Responsibilities
Flight Preparation & Planning
Load Masters ensure that all ground handling requirements are confirmed in advance, including equipment availability, cargo build-up readiness, and compliance with Emirates SkyCargo operational procedures. They review load plans, aircraft limitations, and route-specific requirements to ensure flawless execution.
Aircraft Loading Supervision
A major responsibility involves supervising the loading and unloading of cargo, ensuring optimal weight distribution and cargo security. Load Masters issue precise loading instructions to ground handling teams, monitor execution, and take corrective action where required to avoid operational delays.
Weight & Balance Control
Load Masters prepare and validate critical aircraft documentation including trim sheets and load reports. They provide the Pilot in Command with verified load data, ensuring aircraft performance and balance remain within approved limits.
Special Cargo & Compliance
This role requires advanced handling of special cargo such as dangerous goods, pharmaceuticals, and live animals. Load Masters verify documentation, permits, and handling standards, ensuring compliance with IATA regulations, EU GDP guidelines, and aviation security procedures.
Operational Oversight
Load Masters coordinate closely with flight crews during delays or disruptions, managing duty-time constraints and liaising with support teams. They also inspect aircraft loading systems for serviceability and coordinate maintenance support when required.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for the Load Master role must meet the following requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in airline cargo or ground handling operations
- 12 years of formal education or equivalent
- Mandatory certifications in:
- Load Control (Levels 1 & 2)
- Dangerous Goods Acceptance
- Aircraft Loading and Handling
- IATA Live Animals Regulations (LAR)
- Strong understanding of aviation security, customs procedures, and GDP standards
- Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced operational environments
- Excellent communication and coordination skills
