The Teller role is a frontline banking position responsible for delivering accurate, efficient, and courteous services to customers while strictly following bank policies and procedures.

Job Purpose

The Teller will provide general banking services such as cash deposits, withdrawals, internal transfers, and cash management. The role also includes issuing demand drafts and manager’s cheques while ensuring compliance with internal controls and service quality standards.


Key Responsibilities

Work Management & Operations

  • Receive and pay cash accurately and post transactions correctly
  • Issue Demand Drafts (DDs) and Manager’s Cheques following identification and verification procedures
  • Process inter-account transfers within approved authority limits
  • Ensure no customer account is overdrawn without authorization
  • Handle all internal transfer requests at teller level
  • Take over Head Teller responsibilities when required
  • Balance cash daily and report shortages or excess immediately

Customer Service & Quality

  • Maintain customer queue time below 3 minutes
  • Deliver fast, accurate, and courteous teller services
  • Strictly adhere to bank procedures to minimize risk and errors
  • Cross-sell and refer suitable bank products and services

People & Development

  • Stay updated with CBD operational procedures
  • Participate in e-learning and training programs
  • Identify self-development needs and work with supervisors to improve skills

Education & Experience Requirements

To be successful in this role, candidates should have:

  • Graduate degree (preferably commerce-related) or Diploma in Business/Finance
  • 2–3 years of experience in branch banking or teller operations
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication and customer-handling skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced branch environment
